Marija RUNIĆ
Marija Runić is a linguist from Bosnia and Herzegovina who works at The University of Banja Luka. She earned her doctorate in linguistics from The University of Padua in Italy. Her research focuses on formal linguistics, specifically in the area of syntax and syntax-semantics interface, sociolinguistics and linguistic and education. In 2019-2020, she was a Fulbright Scholar at the Western Washington University with a research project on linguistics and education in post-conflict societies. Runić’s work primarily examines Romance and Slavic languages in a situation of language contact and explores sociolinguistic dynamics in post-conflict Bosnia and Herzegovina. Beyond academia, she frequently consults as a Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian specialist for the language industry. She is also actively engaged in language activism supporting endangered languages, promoting metalinguistic awareness and fighting linguistic discrimination in Bosnia and Herzegovina and internationally.
