Soulignant comment l’emploi du concept de rétro-avant-garde s’ancre dans une entreprise de construction d’une identité collective fondée sur l’héritage de l’avant-garde historique, nous nous interrogeons sur sa « récupérabilité » à l’extérieur du cadre de la vision du monde de IRWIN, et ce à travers un bref examen de diverses pratiques d’emprunt à l’héritage de l’avant-garde dans l’art contemporain d’Europe Centrale et de l’Est. The subject of this paper is inspired by the (pseudo-historiographical) work of the Slovenian artist collective IRWIN in its East Art Map project, where a fictional “retro-avant-gardist” current is presented as playing a central role in the recent history of art in the former communist countries of Europe.
